Detection of Hidden Microphones in Homes and Residences

When Doubt Sets In at Home

Home is the place where we feel most safe. That is precisely what makes the illegal surveillance of a home so intrusive. Whether it’s a contentious divorce or separation, a family dispute, hostile neighbors, an abusive relationship, or simply the nagging feeling of being listened to or watched—there are many reasons why someone might want to have their home inspected, and once doubt sets in, it’s enough to poison daily life.

The devices in question are the same as those used in the professional world, but even more discreet: a microphone in an alarm clock, a camera in a smart speaker, a listening device in an electrical outlet. In the context of a separation, it’s not uncommon for an everyday object—a recent gift or a device “given” by a loved one—to conceal a listening or video-recording device.

Public figures and wealthy families are also subject to targeted risks, which justify regular inspections of their primary and secondary residences. In any case, a professional inspection has one clear advantage: it provides a clear answer where personal investigations lead only to worry and uncertainty.

A common scenario: After a breakup, one of the former partners always seems to “just happen to know” the other’s comings and goings, who they’re seeing, and information they shouldn’t know. Behind this impression may lie a connected device left at home, a smart speaker being used for unauthorized purposes, or a compromised phone. Verifying the facts allows you to move beyond assumptions and base your reasoning on evidence.

What's Included in a Home Inspection

Our detection service—TSCM, which stands for Technical Surveillance Counter-Measures—is available for all types of housing: apartments, houses, urban residences, villas, and vacation homes.

We are looking for all types of devices: GSM and Wi-Fi microphones, hidden microphones, pinhole cameras and IP cameras, tracking devices that may be placed on personal vehicles, and spyware on household devices. This list is not exhaustive.

Our teams use professional equipment equivalent to that used by government agencies: spectrum analyzers, nonlinear junction detectors (NLJD) capable of detecting a component even when it is turned off, thermal imaging, camera detectors, and analysis of the home’s wireless networks. Particular attention is paid to connected devices and private areas—such as bedrooms, offices, and bathrooms—where the presence of a device would be most serious.

We know that having your home inspected is not a trivial matter. Many of our clients hesitate for a long time, torn between the fear of “imagining things” and the very real fear of being watched. Our role is precisely to resolve this uncertainty methodically and without overreacting: either we confirm that someone is there and support you, or we restore your peace of mind by confirming that your home is safe. In either case, you’ll walk away with an answer—not with more doubts.

At the end of the inspection, you will receive a written report of our findings. Confidentiality is strictly maintained: what we observe at your location never leaves the scope of the assignment.

Step-by-Step Guide to a Typical Intervention

The assignment begins with a confidential, often emotionally charged conversation, during which we take the time to understand your situation and your concerns. We then agree on a discreet time frame for the operation, chosen so as not to alert the person who may be behind the surveillance. Once on site, the technician proceeds room by room: conducting a physical inspection, performing a radio frequency sweep, using a metal detector on furniture and objects, conducting a thermal scan, and analyzing networks. We explain our findings in clear terms, and if a device is discovered, we guide you on how to proceed, without rushing. We take the time to answer your questions and, if you wish, to explain how to reduce risks in the future—whether regarding connected devices in your home, access to your residence, or shared online accounts.
